Like whatever happened to that Dead Man show? And I'm sure they said that the Spectre would get one too? *Sigh* Presumably one based on a nonpowered hero/heroine is cheaper than ones with powers, especially considering the money spent on the failed Wonder Woman pilot.
Here's the casting call for Dinah "Laurel" Lance, who in this continuity is a legal aid lawyer who is wary of Ollie, as her sister was on the yacht that sank, leading Ollie to end up on the desert island where he learned how to use a bow.
"28 years old, smart sexy, Laurel is a legal aid attorney determined to use her life as a one-woman war against the 1% following the death of her younger sister Sara. A sister, who as luck would have it, just so happened to have died aboard Oliver’s yacht."
Interesting things about this series? Well, they're actually going to be dealing with the fact that Ollie has been presumed dead for several years whilst he was trapped on his island being beset by a Hobbit and badass Latina helicopter pilots from the future, as opposed to him just showing up out of the blue. Also, the fact that other people where on the boat and presumably died (including Oliver's dad and Dinah's sister) could be an interesting set up for drama too.
On the other hand, another feature being introduced is apparently how Ollie's mum has remarried, taken over the family business and has been doing some shady deals, and will be worrying that Ollie will try to take the company from her and her new husband, or since Ollie survived then the possiblity that her first husband did too. I guess that this could be handled well... but I'm not too optimistic. I'm getting horrible visions that she'll be like Liz Hurley's Veronica Cale (badly acted, yet bizarrely less evil than Wonder Woman in their show) or Sharon Stone's character from Halle Berry's Catwoman movie.
Anyway, we'll have to see, really. Personally I'd liket to see a live action show in the Batman side of the DCU that isn't BoP (like the proposed Gotham Central and that Robin show that was killed in pre-production). Hell, if we have to have a Green Arrow thing, I want to see that SuperMax movie that had Ollie charged with a crime he didn't commit (namely killing one of the cast of Checkmate) and being locked in the place where they send all of the non-crazy DCU villains, like Heatray or something.
